Hotel in Las Tablas de Daimiel

A hotel with a lot of history

Hotel Doña Manuela opened its doors in 2005 as a result of the labour and continuous dedication of a small family.

Barely 20 years old, Ramoni and Manuel emigrated to countries like Switzerland and Germany, where they worked in the hospitality industry. After years, they decided to return to Spain, start a family and their own business in which they applied all the knowledge they had gained abroad. Apart from this small hotel, they have other hospitality businesses.

As time went by, they decided to embark on their most significant project in Daimiel, a perfectly positioned touristic area lacking a hotel with charm, a passion for detail and where the guest would be spoilt for choice. On the 22nd of October, the hotel finally opened its doors, and the dream came true.

Why Doña Manuela? In memory of our maternal grandmother, who saw the project begin but didn’t live to see it conclude.

Our hotel near the Tablas de Daimiel

Our hotel is just 17 minutes from Las Tablas de Daimiel. A hotel with a lot of style, history and comfort. We also collaborate in the organization of visits to our National Park. Are you in?

The best time to visit Las Tablas de Daimiel depends on what you are looking for in your experience. If you want to enjoy the park at its best, I would recommend going in spring, especially between March and May. During this season, water is abundant and flora is at its most vibrant, creating an impressive natural spectacle. In addition, it is an excellent time to observe migratory birds that find a place to rest and feed on the boards. Another good time is autumn, when temperatures are milder and autumn colors transform the landscape into a mosaic of warm tones. In summer, although temperatures can be high, the early morning hours offer a quiet and less crowded experience. Winter has its own charm, with fewer visitors and a serene atmosphere, although you may find less water on the boards.

The time it takes to explore Las Tablas de Daimiel may vary depending on the route you choose and your pace of exploration. There are several well-marked routes within the park, the most popular being the Isla del Pan route and the Laguna Permanente route. The Pan Island route is one of the most accessible and can be covered in approximately one and a half to two hours, depending on how long you stop to observe wildlife and take photographs. The Permanent Lagoon route is a little longer and can take you around two to three hours. If you are passionate about nature and enjoy bird watching, you will likely take more time on each tour, as there are many observation points where you can stop to enjoy the surroundings.

Las Tablas de Daimiel have faced various challenges over the years, mainly related to water management. This unique wetland, which depends on the balance between surface and groundwater, has suffered periods of drought and overexploitation of the aquifer that feeds it. Over the past decades, several conservation and recovery measures have been implemented to restore its ecosystem. For example, artificial water recharge projects have been carried out and actions have been taken to control groundwater extraction in the region. Although it still faces challenges, the park has shown signs of recovery thanks to these efforts, and continues to be a crucial habitat for many bird species and a natural jewel of Spain.

Daimiel Tablas are special for many reasons. This national park is one of the last examples of river table ecosystems in Europe, where the combination of river and groundwater creates a unique and dynamic wetland. It is a place of great importance for biodiversity, as it is home to a rich variety of fauna and flora. Waterfowl find an ideal habitat in Las Tablas de Daimiel, and it is possible to observe species such as the great crested grebe, the mallard and the purple heron. Additionally, the park offers a unique educational and recreational experience. Visitors can enjoy peaceful walks along its wooden walkways, participate in guided activities and learn about the importance of wetland conservation. The scenic beauty of the place, with its extensive lagoons and riverside vegetation, makes it a must-see destination for nature and photography lovers.
